Research Fellow, Chemical Development
Employment Type: Full-Time
In this role, you will: Design and execute synthetic routes toward assigned targets. Develop reactions into efficient, scalable processes. Evaluate the safety parameters of the processes. Transfer the processes to the Kilo lab, small scale cGMP, and/or large scale production facilities as required Effectively interface with the customer, Analytical, QA, QC, and scale-up teams. Supervise and mentor junior scientists and serve as a technical expert for the department as requested.
Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:
Required Ph.D. Degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent experience 15+ years’ hands on experience in developing chemical processes in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry Extensive experience in route scouting, optimization of multistep syntheses, and identification of critical reaction parameters Good knowledge of the use of HPLC, NMR, and other routinely used analytical tools Knowledge of Process Safety and experience in addressing issues related to process safety Extensive knowledge in process validation and late phase process development
·Strong written and oral communication skills in order to:
ointerpret experimental data and technical journals
omaintain laboratory notebook and prepare detailed reports
oeffectively present information to customers, colleagues, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
orespond to inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies
Preferred Good knowledge in technology transfer and designing processes to suit a plant set up Detailed knowledge about all unit operations and knowledge about optimizing these operations Knowledge in late phase process development Knowledge of newer technologies (ReactIR, FBRM, Flow Chemistry) and Design of Experiments (DoE) statistical analysis Knowledge in Process Safety and experience in addressing issues related to process safety. Experience in mentoring junior scientists
