The (Head of UX or UX Strategist) plays a key role in implementingcustomer-centric digital products, including four websites, supporting NuveenAsset Managements global marketing. As part of the digital marketing team, theUX strategist role is both a high-level leadership role as well as a hands ondesign role. The UX strategist conducts user research, gathers and develops businessrequirements by working directly with others in marketing and Nuveens otherbusiness units, identifies use cases and functional specifications for internaland external digital properties to craft an engaging user experience. The rolealso involves working directly with technology groups to implement the userexperience by participating in planning and execution of Agile developmentreleases. A primary focus is to understand the needs and strategic goals of thebusiness balanced with client expectations and needs to identify digitalsolutions and user journeys using digital best practices and implementing thenewest innovative technologies.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Define theUX vision for Nuveens digital properties, including retail,Institutional, and Global websites, and Nuveens intranet. This includesworking across business units to define goals and outcomes for Nuveenscustomers as they use our digital channels.
Createoverall design strategy for a wide range of user, business and marketinggoals by leading program-level initiatives, defining complex problems byusing research, conceptualization (sketches/wireframes), visual design,information architecture, and navigation models.
Identifyuser requirements to shape and prioritize features for our digitalproducts, working with digital product managers, business partners, andour development partners to define digital product releases.
Work closelywith the Nuveen brand creative team to direct digital designs so that theyalign with the overall Nuveen brand strategy to ensure that the look andfeel and work cohesively with other materials which drive clientsunderstanding of Nuveens products and services.
Oversee anddirect digital design for project teams on day-to-day operations ofproject deliverables, and problem resolution. Coordinate projectschedules, assignments and work flows.
Lead and facilitate Nuveens digital innovationprogram by introducing and evangelizing new methods of collaboration such asDesign Thinking and promoting experimentation with new digital technologies.
Gather requirements through a variety of techniques(e.g. workshops, work sessions and interviews).
Review requirements with the product and developmentteam to ensure common understanding.
Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards,mock-ups, and wireframe prototypes to effectively communicate interaction anddesign ideas.
Establish user journey acceptance criteria, ensuringeach user journey meets the acceptance criteria. Document, test and retest userjourneys as necessary.
Ability to scope design initiatives accurately andprioritize work items appropriately.
Break down larger initiatives into Agile stories andreleases, and work with Agile development teams to document detailed UX requirements.
Understand content management systems so that newtemplates, components, and features can be designed and implement to supportnew UX needs.
Maintain consistency in design language, visualelements and defining behavior, including iconography, typography, colors andmessage displays for use across the organization.
A minimum of 10 years UX designer experience orrelated field is required. Knowledge of financial services or asset managementindustry is preferred.
Experience creating and implementing best-of-breed UXdesign standards, technologies and digital best practices.
Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypesand storyboards
Experience using design language software
Experience and aptitude presenting design strategiesand solutions to senior executives, technology partners, and key stakeholders.
A sophisticated eye for design including intelligentlyexecuted layouts, refined use of typography and incorporation of an appropriatephotographic style.
Core interaction design skills, knowledge of user-centereddesign methodologies, and a well-established understanding of mobile usability.
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently underpressure with careful attention to detail.
Outstanding ability to think creatively
Motivated self-starter who is able to workindependently.
Team player with solid interpersonal skills, and theability to deliver effective oral and written communications.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, changingenvironment
Experience working in a global, cross-functional teamis a plus
Knowledge and experience working with innovationprocesses such as Design Thinking, Google Ventures Sprints, for example
