The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Ithaca, New York region with a for profit organization. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Major responsibilities - Give financial reports to executive committee each month - Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team - Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation - Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis - Advance Finance Department initiatives - Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash - Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities - Handle monthly and yearly close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis - Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection - Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Progressive accounting experience - Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines - Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes - Previous experience in public accounting is an asset - Strong attention to detail - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Self-starter and strong ethical standards - Strong communication and social skills - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred For confidential consideration, please email your resume directly to [Click Here to Email Your Resum ]
