Job Description:

The Technical Architect is responsible for the design and architecture of Salesforce, Java, and Mulesoft platforms with a strong focus on integration with preexisting Java-based information solutions. Actively participate in all phases of development including planning, analysis, design, development, and testing, and will assist in establishing quality standards, tools and methodologies. The core function of the Technical Architects role is to provide ownership of all technical aspects of Salesforce.com platform including custom code, systems integrations, and 3rd party applications.

  • Works directly with product owner to define requirements and demonstrate solutions

  • Lead developer resources in delivery of project deliverables

  • Responsible for overseeing day to day technical aspects of development environment and ensuring all developers are properly using development libraries and tools

  • Maintain proper security measures and procedures as mandated by USDA requirements

  • Assist project managers with development estimates, design specifications, code reviews, and evaluation of applications with clients and development staff

  • Assists in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new systems

  • Work closely with other USDA-FPAC organizations

  • Drive and increase user adoptions and ensure user satisfaction, including developing, documenting and delivering training

  • Create SDLC-mandated project and product documentation

Must obtain Public Trust before starting position



  • BS degree (4 years experience in lieu of degree)

  • 14+ yearsof software development experience

  • At least6+ years of Salesforcedevelopment experience

  • Excellent team player in a diverse culture who displays the ability to work under pressure


  • Oracle Certified Associate Java SE x Programmer Certification

  • Salesforce ArchitectCertification

  • Desire and ability to act as a mentor/coach

  • Expertise with developing on the MuleSoft ESB platform delivering applications and APIs

  • Advanced experience working with MuleSoft Anypoint platform

  • Experience with different frameworks such as Spring

  • Apex and Visualforce page development

  • Experience with SOQL/Work Bench/Developer Console as well as Lightning component/design development

  • Experience working in a Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as Eclipse force.com or Mavensmate

  • Experience with SOAP or REST

  • Experience with Section 508 accessibility standards preferred

  • Experience with remediating OWASP Top 10 Security Risks preferred

  • Experience with Single-Page Applications (SPA)
